2025
To kick off the 2025 capability-building initiative, CLF Secretariat partnered with FR Professional Network for Human Resource (PN4HR) to conduct a one-day Grant Writing Workshop titled “From Vision to Funding: Grant Writing for Impact” on Monday, 21 April 2025 at One Punggol MENDAKI as a pilot ground up project.
The objective of this workshop is to equip and build the capacity of CLF partners in writing clear, persuasive and good quality grant proposals to increase their opportunities to receive grants from government or community agencies as well as sponsors and donors.
A total of 23 officers from various MMOs including Club Heal, UIMA, ADAM Explorer, PERDAUS and Muslimin Trust Fund Association (MTFA) - as well as 10 MENDAKI staff from Partnerships, CEO Office, Communications, Future Ready and CDLT attended the workshop.
Prior to the session, participants completed an online training needs analysis (TNA) form to identify specific competency gaps. The insights gathered were then incorporated into the workshop content.
The top three areas where participants sought support were:
1. Connecting proposals to funder objectives
2. Crafting impact stories
3. Planning for outcomes and results
The facilitator: Mr. Faiz Selamat, Head of Knowledge Solutions at Empact, addressed these concerns by sharing practical tips and insights, including the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to align program outcomes. He also emphasized the REAIM framework, guiding participants on developing funder-ready proposals that demonstrate impact, scalability, sustainability and measurability.
A post workshop feedback form was flashed on the screen to get the participants’ feedback. All respondents agreed that the session met its objectives and expressed satisfaction with the event. CLF Secretariat will continue to organize more capability building workshops in our efforts to build a Community of Success.

On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, MENDAKI held the final Community Leaders Forum (CLF) sharing session for the year. The session, focusing on "Key Factors Influencing Youth Aspiration," drew approximately 30 community leaders and youth representatives from MENDAKI's institutional members as well as new partners within the Malay/Muslim organizations.
Mr. Noor Azlan Salim, Deputy Director of Partnership, opened the session by emphasizing the achievements of Malay Muslim youths in recent years, along with the Singapore government’s initiatives in youth development.
Next on the agenda was a presentation by Ms. Iryani Halip, Senior Research Officer at MENDAKI, who discussed a study on Muslim youth aspirations. A key takeaway from her presentation was the significant role that role models play in inspiring Muslim youth, particularly those who have achieved academic success and share similar backgrounds.
Following the presentation, a fireside chat featured two prominent youth leaders: Mr. Raja Mohamad, founder of the think tank group IM.PROF, and Mr. Dzulkifly Ahmad, co-founder of Adam Explorer, a mentoring and training provider. They shared effective strategies for engaging youth in community issues.
Youth representatives from MENDAKI’s institutional members, including PERDAUS, SGM, 4PM, and PPIS, as well as new partners like IMSSA, MTFA, Bapa Hebat SG, and KESUMA, participated in a vibrant discussion with the panellists and picked up some Gen Z slang along the way.
MENDAKI expresses its gratitude to CLF partners for their ongoing commitment to uplifting the Malay/Muslim community. See you in the next CLF Sharing session!
